iPhone Xs or Xs Max not charging? – While for most this charging issue has been resolved with the latest released iOS 12.0.1, some of you might still be facing this problem due to some hardware defect. There are a couple of ways that will help you in resolving this particular issue if upgrading to the latest beta update hasn’t helped you at all.
USB Restricted Mode
One of the most common reasons for your iPhone not getting charged could be due to the fact that USB accessories are disabled and your iPhone won’t connect to them. There is this new feature that Apple introduced in it’s latest iPhone series that disable USB connectivity if your phone has been locked for an hour or more.
If you suspect this might have been the case or just want to be sure then try disabling this mode first.
Step-1: First of all, go to Settings on your iPhone.
Step-2: Then, scroll down to Face ID & Passcode and open it.
Step-3: You will need to verify yourself to proceed ahead.
Step-4: Now make sure that the option against USB accessories under the heading “Allow Access When Locked” is turned on.
Next, up you can try charging your iPhone and see if it works.
Waking Up Your iPhone
Just only because your iPhone isn’t getting charged while in sleep mode, doesn’t mean it won’t charge at all. You can simply tap upon your iPhone while plugged in with a charger and it will wake up with that familiar charging tone and screen.
You can also make sure that your iPhone is well turned on before you plug it into any charging socket. If you do so, in that case, your iPhone will continue to charge even if it goes into the sleeping mode during charging.
Note: Important thing is to remember that iPhone must not be in sleep mode when you plug in the charger.
Using Wireless Charging Pad
Now this charging problem allegedly named as ‘Chargegate’only causes problems via cable charging method only. That means if you are using a wireless charging pad instead of a lightning to USB-c cable or lightning to USB cable, then you should face no problem at all.
You can find many good wireless charging pads available online. Before investing in one, make sure that they pass the Apple certification for it’s charging devices and iPhone accessories.
If nothing else from the above works, then try checking your charging port for hindrances such as dirt or foreign particles etc. Be careful while finding your way around the charging port as it’s very delicate and slightest fiddle can damage it beyond repair.
